... I'll be baaaaacck!

I have been a bit distracted lately trying to plan the electrical. But with the outer shell leaks handled (hope) I am finishing the insulation so I can finally get to running wire. Cutting and tapering is real tedious but I kinda get a hypnotic roll going. Thank God for satellite radio!

Little jobs, big time

Getting to the point of the project where I need to take a few steps back. So I am wrapping up the little jobs that get swept under the rug to make way for the bigger ones. I think the little jobs mate to create a zillion jobs that all need to be completed before I move on to the next phase. It has been raining here so I have discovered a few leaks . I have sealed all the windows, seams and cracks with Parbond, and still have a couple! Arrrrgggg! Time to go over all the rivets with Capt Tollys Creeping Crack Cure. I think it is like Acrylic-R just with a fancy name. Has a nice ring, no?

Under my skin

I finally finished up the exterior of my trailer so onto the next phase, insulation. I went with Prodex Insulation because it combines the benefits of insulation with vapor and radiant barrier protection. That means you'll have a cool, dry structure in the summer and a warm, dry structure in the winter. Prodex works well in hot and cold climates. Other benefits include sound deadening and easy installation. Reflective aluminum foil on each side of 5mm (13/64) closed-cell polyethylene foam center.
I glued 2" strips of R Max Polyiso to the inner shell and started cutting out the Prodex. It rained today and exposed more leaks in the shell. So tomorrow I am going to fix the leaks before I finish the insulation.

Chillin...

Made a parts run yesterday. Went to Inland Rv and bought the rest of the hardware to finish my windows, exterior lights, oh and huge bonus....a door frame mold to weld my door frame back together!!! Greg is such a cool guy. He has so much knowledge in his head I could talk to him all day! Also picked up my A/C from Uwe at Area 63, also great guy. Its so funny when I started this project nearly 2 years ago this August I knew nothing. But now with the help of Airforums great people and a few friends I am almost done with this monster task. So thanks to all!
Got the A/C in yesterday pretty straight forward install. Built a 14 1/4"X14 1/4" wood frame out of some Scrap MGP that I sealed with some left over West Systems Epoxy. I made a patch out of some left over 5052 from the belly pan. Drilled, sealed and riveted to the roof, then installed the new a/c. Pretty easy which scares me a little now my friend Paul wants to tackle the door. That's crazy talk!

The Devil is in the Details

Just tieing up a few loose ends with the exterior. I have been scraping caulking out of every crevice on the exterior of the shell. I scrubbed the shell down to loosen up decades old filth, very unfun, unsexy, etc. But it is very inspiring how emblems came out...

Modernism Week 2012

Had a great time at Modernism Week in Palm Springs. Saw a bunch of incredible trailers, got some ideas. I think I may be charging my interior lay out to rear bedroom mid bath, oh noooooooooo
I must say how much I enjoy meeting most trailer enthusiast. Everyone was so willing to show and share.
Phils 57 Silverstreak was my favorite though. He says hes an amature, but I really doubt by the looks of his trailer. His attention to detail was crazy! He put so much love into his work. Seeing it gave me new hope.
Randy Gomez @ Hollywood Airstream and his 65 Safari was spectacular. Such a nice guy.
David Hissem @ Timeless Travel Trailer and his team do such beautiful work. He spent so much time with me that I forgot to take more pics of their work.
Randy at Blastolene is pretty off his rocker. Take a look at The Deccoliner. The next time your wife gives you crap about how much time you spent on that "damn trailer of yours" just show her this!
There are no words, except Im not worthy.
Corrine Vegter @ Dusty Dog Studios had some very cool shirts, mugs and trailer art. I bought myself some very cool stuff, thanks!!
Here are some of my favorite trailers pics, enjoy!
